Assignment #2 INTRODUCTION TO EASTERN EUROPE       Approx. 30min

Eastern Europe is interesting because it is defined by historians and geographers differently. Some definitions of Eastern Europe leave out or include certain countries. We studied Latin America earlier this year and learned that it was a region defined mainly by its culture. Eastern Europe has a strong culture which helps glue it together as a region. Historically, Eastern Europe is also an area of conflict; it was a crossroads area between major ancient empires and hosted the events that led to the outbreak of World War I in August, 1914.

    Tasks:

    1. Use your browser to search and explore some of the countries of Eastern Europe. Choose any 2 countries in Eastern Europe, name your choices, then, answer the following for each:

-Relative Location: Briefly describe the environment and your countries' connection to other places.

-Place: What makes this area unique geographically? Culturally? What would you remember about it?

-Human Environment Interaction: How have people adapted to the environment or altered it to meet their needs?

    2. Of the 2 countries you picked, which one would you more likely want to visit? Give 2 specific reasons for your choice.

Remember to click on SUBMIT to enter your answers. Good luck!

NOTE: You may use Google Docs for working on your responses. Just remember that you need to click on SUBMIT to record a response, then, cut/paste into the space provided.

    ALSO!:

I have created an Eastern Europe map review on seterra.com,  take some time when you can to practice with it. It would be good to start with a map in a book or open in another tab since it can be easy to mix up countries. No pressure!

You should retake this review until you can get 100% in about 2 minutes or less. Remember, this is just practice.   :)
